Let’s Make Mamoo’s Mashed Potatoes

Every holiday, my grandma, who we call called Mamoo, made these garlic mashed potatoes. And now I make them for all family gatherings. They’re creamy, slightly garlicky and just plain perfect.

This mashed potato recipe is perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas or any weeknight dinner. The evaporated milk makes them extra creamy without turning them soupy, and the garlic adds just the right amount of flavor.

What you’ll need:
5 lb russet potatoes
4–5 garlic cloves
1 stick salted butter
1 can evaporated milk (use ½–¾)
1 tbsp salt
½ tbsp black pepper

How to make them:
1. Peel, wash, and cut potatoes into chunks.
2. Add potatoes and garlic to a large pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil.
3. Cook until tender, about 30 minutes.
4. Drain, then add butter, evaporated milk, salt and pepper.
5. Mash until light and fluffy, adding more milk or seasoning if needed.

Creamy comfort in a bowl!
